BTRC mandates biometric SIM registration tied to a verified NID, capped at 15 active SIMs per individual. Mobile network operators and MVNOs use KYC.bd to enforce these rules in real time — at retailer counters, in self-service apps, and during number portability events.
What the integration looks like
- Retailer scans the customer's NID and captures a selfie via the operator's Android app.
- KYC.bd validates the NID against the Election Commission record, runs liveness, and checks the active-SIM count for that NID across the operator's base.
- On pass, the operator gets a signed verification token to attach to the MSISDN activation request submitted to BTRC.
